You can cleanse your energy with essential oils: eucalyptus, cedar, lavender, etc.
Drink Water
Before and after your reiki session, drink water because reiki can be dehydrating! Also, drinking water can act as a way to clear out or move energy.
Wear Socks
More often than not, you’ll be asked to take off your shoes for reiki. From a spiritual perspective, taking off your shoes can help ground you. When you sit up after the session is over, plant your feet on the ground for a bit! This can help you process your session while you talk about your experience with your reiki healer at the end.
Cleanse yourself
Reiki is going to clear your energy even if you don’t cleanse. However, cleansing can pull off some of the stagnant energy that we collect in our day to day lives. If you feel like you’ve been overwhelmed emotionally, physically or spiritually, cleansing beforehand can put you in the mindset to better receive reiki. I recommend a smoke cleanse using cedar, lavender, or eucalyptus. If not a spritz of Florida Water usually does the trick!
Set an intention
This can be a simple mantra like, “I accept peace in my life” or “I’m healing from a past wound.” Regardless of what the intention is, share it with your reiki practitioner. They may call in higher powers (angels, goddesses, gods, etc.) related to the type of healing you want to focus on in your session.
Ground yourself after
Energy work opens you up spiritually, it’s literally an out of body experience! This can make you unaware of your environment, spacey, etc. Once you’re done with your reiki session it’s a great idea to ground yourself before moving forward with your day. Grounding practices include; planting your feet on the ground, drinking water, eating food, walking in nature, etc.
I hope this helps you on your healing journey! If you have additional questions feel free to reach out at fatedhealer@gmail.com or comment on this post.
